CREATIVE MOVEMENT
Ages 3 to 4
This program introduces the young child to the wonderful world of pre-ballet and pre-jazz through stimulating instruction, learning basic dance skills while having fun! We challenge the child’s imagination while teaching muscle coordination and control, muscular patterning, musicality, rhythm and flexibility. Creative Movement classes meet once a week for 45 minutes.
Dress code for Creative Movement
Girls - solid plain black leotard (no skirt attached), pale pink tights, blue sock on right foot, pink sock on left foot, hair up in a neat secure bun with bobby pins and a hair net around the bun, pink ballet shoes with elastic. Boys – solid white t-shirt, black tights or shorts or sweatpants, blue sock on right foot, pink or red sock on left foot, black ballet shoes with elastic.
COMBINATION CLASSES
(ballet & tap)
(Ages 5 to 8)
Dancers are introduced to learning at this level for alignment, flexibility, and coordination - a strong foundation of physical and mental understanding necessary for Classical Ballet training. Tap steps are complex. Learning & practicing them is a great exercise for your brain. Tap also improves your balance, coordination and core control.
Students ages 5-8 are required to take a combination class of basics – classical ballet and tap.
Dress code for Combination Classes
Girls – solid plain black leotard (no skirt attached), pale pink tights, hair up in a neat secure bun with bobby pins and a hair net around the bun, pink ballet shoes with elastic, black tap shoes must have elastic, velcro or ribbon. If they come with ribbon, the ribbon needs to be replaced with a piece of elastic so that the dancer can easily take shoe off and on. Boys – solid white t-shirt, black tights or sweatpants, white socks, black ballet shoes with elastic, black tap shoes.
BALLET
Enter the romantic world of classical ballet. Develop a more beautiful body through the great traditional ballet exercises, taught with careful attention to the individual student’s physical and emotional needs. A solid ballet technique will serve as an invaluable foundation for almost any other kind of dancing, and, at the very least, will give the student a strong and graceful body.

POINTE & PRE-POINTE
(Ages 9 & older)
All Pointe and Pre-pointe students must take 2 additional ballet classes per week and must be approved by the instructor or director.

Solid plain black leotard, Skirts may be worn, pale pink tights, hair up in a neat secure bun with bobby pins and a hair net around the bun,. Pointe shoes may be worn when approved by the instructor. Demi-pointe shoes should be worn in Pre-pointe classes, but only when approved by the instructor.
These classes must be assigned by an instructor or director.
Modern and Contemporary Dance
Modern (for ages 8 & older)
A style of free and expressive theatrical dancing not bound by the classical rules of ballet. A form of contemporary theatrical and concert dance employing a special technique for developing the use of the entire body in movements expressive of abstract ideas.
The study of various techniques; Horton, Graham, and Release. Students develop an understanding of movement in relation to space, time, and energy through movement practice and experimentation and become familiar with body awareness, movement control, body parts, placement, and movement quality.
Contemporary Dance (for ages 8 & older)
Contemporary dance is the blending of different dance styles (ballet, modern, jazz, etc.) stressing versatility and self-expression. Contemporary dancers focus on awareness of space and body movement, use of body weight, and efficiency of muscle use and safe body alignment. Contemporary dance encourages natural, spontaneous movement and personal interpretation. It focuses on self-expression, awareness of space and body movement, use of body weight, efficiency of muscle use and safe body alignment.
Dress code for Modern & Contemporary Dance
tight fitting black shirt w/ leotard or sports bra underneath or black leotard, (no 2 piece outfits), black footless tights, leggings or black jazz or yoga pants. Hair must be pulled back into a neat, secure ponytail. Modern dancers will train barefoot. Contemporary Dancers will train with jazz shoes(oxfords, sneakers or pull on) or ballet shoes
Musical Theater
(Ages 6 & older)
Students can take this class without taking an additional classes, but Combo class is strongly recommended.
Lights, curtain, jazz hands! This class will introduce the various styles featured in the American Broadway musical, exploring age appropriate performance forms from vaudeville to Disney. Students will learn to entertain & communicate emotion through words, music & movement. With a little bit of group singing & a lot of dance, we will experiment with different varieties of dance (such as tap, jazz, Fosse, ballroom, street, ballet & international styles), along with acting & developing a character. From musical comedies (like Shrek) to rock musicals (like Grease) to powerful classics (like Les Misérables), students will have fun & obtain a confident stage presence that will transfer to all other types of performance & public presentation.
Dress code for Musical Theatre
Black leotard or tight-fitting black shirt w/leotard or sports bra underneath, (no 2 piece outfits), black footless tights, leggings or black jazz or yoga pants. Hair needs to be in a bun or ponytail. Black jazz shoes (oxfords, sneakers or pull on).
TAP
Tap Dance is a unique, American Art Form, which, like the American experience, combines a wide selection of influences to create a new dance. Tap Dancing stresses rhythm and sound and fosters discipline and precision...but also gives the student a sense of freedom and creativity. Tap steps are complex. Learning & practicing them is a great exercise for your brain. Tap also improves your balance, coordination and core control.
Dress code for Tap
Leggings or black yoga or jazz pants, black footless tights, black leotard or tight fitting black shirt w/leotard or sports bra underneath, (no 2 piece outfits). Hair must be pulled back into a neat, secure ponytail. Black oxford tap shoes - no split soles.
Jazz
(Ages 5 & older)

(Students ages 5-8 are required to attend a combination class in addition to jazz class). Jazz is an exciting, energetic dance form and style that has changed as our popular music has changed. Classes include warm-up, center technique, jazz patterns and routines. Skills, such as balance, coordination, rhythm and dynamic levels of movement, are developed to popular music.
